President Traian Basescu informed on the public radio yesterday that the current situation in the country and the so-called scandals were in fact a media war generated and maintained by the moguls of the mass-media and politicians.
The head of state said he had no reservation to state that Patriciu, Vantu and Voiculescu use their media trusts in the political battle in order to obtain economic advantages.
“They want to make frail that part that hampers them in deriving economic favours they need from the politicians they control,” said Basescu. The President insisted in fact during his entire appearance on Radio Romania News and Current Affairs that the media moguls and some politicians were conducting a campaign designed to undermine his credibility.
“Very many politicians do their job with one exception: when it comes to economic interests.”
He indicated that he had come across an analysis in a newspaper regarding the trusts of the mentioned businesspeople, where they were called ‘moguls’ but the material, cording to the president, “did not make any reference to their links to politics.”
Basescu reproached the three that they want to control the political leadership of the country. In his opinion, tit no longer matter s that politicians ‘robbed’ in the beginning because in the meantime they have developed “respectable businesses.”
“I agree to that, with one amendment: hand off the political control of this country!” said Basescu.
