Bucharest - The Embassy of Japan to Bucharest and Japan Foundation organise together with the National Film Archives, during February 15-21, the Gala of the Japanese Film where the films of some of the most representative Japanese film-makers will be presented. For seven days, the public can see, at Jean Georgescu hall of the Romanian Cinematheque, films by Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujiro Ozu, Kinoshita Keisuke and Masaki Kobayashi. The organisers have selected seven full-length films representative for the Japanese cinema, which will be subtitled in Romanian and English. The Gala opens on February 15, with the film of Akiro Kurosawa “The quiet duel” (1949), which will be projected also on the second day of the event. The programme includes the films “Crucified lovers” (1954) and “Story of the late chrysanthemum” (1939) directed by Kenji Mizoguchi, “I was born, but...” (1932) by Yasujiro Ozu, “Revolt of the samurai” (1967) by Masaki Kobayashi, “Miss you” (1951) by Kenji Mizoguchi, and “24 eyes” (1954) by Keisuke Kinoshita.
